The Awesomeness that is Fiona Glennane

I watch a lot of TV. Probably more than I should. But they just keep making these great shows and I get hooked. But I'm going to focus on the "crime-fighting" shows that I watch. Or the "murder mystery" ones. I don't know what they are exactly. Anyway, it seems like lately lots of characters are anti-gun. It's kind of sweet in a way. For example: Mr. Monk from Monk doesn't carry a gun; Shawn Spencer from Psych-I don't think I've ever seen him hold a gun except to take it away from someone. He for sure doesn't carry one; Patrick Jane from The Mentalist definitely doesn't like guns. Even though he fires one at the end of the season one finale. So it's somewhat common for characters to not really like guns, right? Which is what makes the character Fiona from Burn Notice so incredibly refreshing and delightful. She is the poster girl for the NRA. As Michael Westen describes her in the opening credits, she is "trigger happy." Fiona is just awesome. She would rather shoot first and ask questions later. She's feisty and, dang I'm gonna say it again, she's AWESOME! If you haven't watched Burn Notice, check it out.

  1. Poster girl for the IRA as well. I once read someone criticizing the show's choice in casting Gabrielle Anwar as Fiona. Another defended her and I agree with them. And this was tha manner of their defense. She may not look as yummyily attractive as some of the other brainless eye candy they hire for other shows. But she has a kind of fierce beauty about her that makes her believable as a gun happy mercenary. On top of that she also has skill at acting plus good comdeic timing that alows her to esaily keep up with shows cast. And being funny is not all she keeps up on. When she needs to kick butt I totaly buy it. Other shows they have pretty girls in heels that can hold their own but it doesn't ring true the way it does with Fiona. Anwar brings something to the preformance that is hard to put a finger on but it's an important contribution and it wouldn't be the same without her.
